Many have asked about the outcome of the San Diego City Budget and Government Effectiveness Committee, tasked with the difficult decision as to whether to forward the animal services contract negotiated with the Humane Society, with a minimal 80% live release rate for cats and dogs, and without defined guidelines for working with rescues.
A motion passed 3-1 to forward the contract with no recommendation to the full council for consideration on April 30.
The most pertinent part of the meeting follows; it's an informative 8 minutes. In it you will see Councilmember Chris Ward invite the SD Humane Society to make a good faith effort to improve the contract before going to the SD City Council.
SDHS's stance on unionization neutrality is also clarified.
